Sue Bird becomes second player in franchise history to have their jersey number retired

Seattle — The Seattle Storm announced Thursday they will be retiring Sue Bird’s #10 jersey and celebrating her legacy during the pre-game ceremony on June 11 at Climate Pledge Arena.

Bird has won a record five Olympic gold medals, four WNBA championships, two NCAA championships and five EuroLeague titles, making her the greatest point guard in franchise history.

Bird spent her entire career with the Storm and played 19 seasons, the most of any player in the WNBA. She ended her career with 3,234 assists, making her the all-time leading assist leader, and scored or assisted on 27.5 percent of every basket scored in Storm history. She was honored on each of the WNBA’s milestone teams and was named as one of the 25 greatest players in league history.

Bird is the second player in franchise history to have their jersey number retired. Her jersey will join Lauren Jackson’s #15 in the rafters at Climate Pledge Arena.
