THURSTON COUNTY — A Thurston County hiking trail was closed Friday near the Deschutes River after authorities discovered human remains.
The remains were found next to the Yelm-Tenino trail.
The Pierce County Sheriff's office identified the remains as male Thursday evening. Authorities said there was no evidence of foul play.
Thurston Public Works said the trail is closed near it's intersection with the Chehalis Western Trail. The trail will reopen Saturday morning, officials said.
The age and cause of death has not been released.
Authorities have not released any further details.
