The Kitsap County Sheriff's office is investigating after a body was found on a beach in South Kitsap on Tuesday afternoon.
Just after 3 p.m., detectives responded to a report that a body of an apparent teenage female had washed up on a beach area in the 4700 block of Beach Drive East, near Woods Road East.
Investigators said the person who reported it was a nature photographer who stopped by the side of the road to observe birds.
The Sheriff's Office said that detectives believe the body is likely of a 17-year-old Bremerton girl, Hevi Muhaz Tahir, who was reported missing Jan. 29 in Silverdale. There has been an extensive search effort for her since then.
The Kitsap County coroner will positively identify the body and will determine the exact cause and manner of death.
