Car fire causes evacuation of West Seattle apartment building

SEATTLE — A West Seattle apartment building had to be evacuated when a car caught fire in the parking lot.

Residents on the first and second floors of the building in the 6500 block of 42nd Avenue Southwest were asked to leave about 5 a.m. Tuesday.

There was some superficial damage to the building and one of the units had to be ventilated.

Residents were allowed back in at 5:40 a.m.
