Couple wins $18M lawsuit against SeaTac

SEATAC, Wash. — A West Seattle couple has won an $18 million lawsuit against the city of SeaTac over a plan they started more than a decade ago.

Gerry and Kathy Kingen said that in 2004, they wanted to turn a lot in SeaTac into a 1,200 spot park-and-fly garage.

“As you can see out there with the airport developing, tripling in size over the last 10 to 15 years, there's a dire need for parking. And we could have provided that,” said Gerry Kingen.

But court documents reveal the City of SeaTac soon began to conspire to wrestle the property from the Kingens.

Court findings say the city used delays, withheld vital documents and even acted as phantom buyers over the course of seven years.

The city is now filing an appeal in the case.
