PUYALLUP, Wash. — Crews battled a fire at Karshner Elementary School in Puyallup on Sunday morning, officials said.
Fire crews responded around 11:30 a.m. to the school, located at 1328 8th Ave NW.
Officials said there is heavy smoke and asked people to avoid the area.

Several side streets around the school were closed.
The school sustained heavy damage.
