DOC employee arrested in sex sting

Thomas Hili didn't want to answer questions after he was formally charged with attempted child rape and communicating with a minor for immoral purposes.

The 50-year-old Washington State Department of Corrections employee was arrested in a Washington State Patrol child sex sting called “Net Nanny.”

Video given to KIRO 7 by the Washington State Patrol showed the sting underway, including the arrests of three men.

In Hili's case, an undercover detective posed as a 13-year-old boy online and had repeated sexually graphic conversations with Hili, who agreed to meet the detective, believing him to be the teenager, according to charging documents filed in Pierce County Superior Court.

Hili was arrested on Friday when he allegedly showed up at a home hoping to meet the boy.

Hili was one of 12 men arrested during the sting operation.

He works as a trainer for Special Emergency Response Teams, or SERT, in state correctional facilities statewide. Hili is a former Army ranger and stuntman who has appeared in the movies "Operation Dumbo Drop" and "Terminal Velocity" and the television series "Pandora's Clock," according to the Internet Movie Data Base.

“These are people that you don’t ordinarily suspect,” Washington State Patrol Lt. Mike Eggleston said of the men arrested during the sting operation.

Hili remains free on $50,000 he posted after his arrest. Nine of the other suspects had bail set at $500,000.
