The search is on for whoever killed a man and left his body in the trunk of a car in Lakewood.
Workers at Tacoma Towing off 39th Avenue Southwest made the discovery Thursday.
Owner Brian Paige said he got the call to impound a silver sedan left on the front lawn at an empty home for sale in Tacoma off 97th Avenue and Sheridan.
“For an older Saturn, it was a nice-looking car. I actually got in. It was unlocked,” says Paige. “That’s when I discovered the engine was slightly warm. Obviously, it’s been parked there within the last six hours I would guess.”
According to Pierce County Sheriff's Department, the victim was a 49-year-old man from the Roy area.
The circumstances behind his death are still under investigation.
Paige says it's not their usual protocol to get into vehicles impounded from private properties,
but they did in this case because police had called saying it may have been involved in a suspicious incident.
