An early morning fire gutted a popular Lake Stevens restaurant, days after the business reopened following a move.
The fire was reported just after 5 a.m. at the commercial building on the 500 block of 91st Avenue.
The building houses the New Country Grill Restaurant which just relocated from its original location next door.
It reopened on Monday morning and restaurant regular Frank Remington says he’s devastated to see the damage.
"They are like a second family to me," says Remington. "I mean they are good people."
Fire officials from multiple agencies responded. They believe the fire started on the second story of the building shared by a gas station and convenience store.
That business was also badly damaged.
The owner of “New Country Grill," Isabell Gaspar says the business closed up as normal Wednesday and she had no idea what happened.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
No one was hurt.
