SEATTLE — MacKenzie Scott, the billionaire philanthropist and ex-wife of Jeff Bezos, announced another $2.7 billion in donations to various charities, she wrote in a Tuesday blog post.

These latest donations brings her total to $8.5 billion since July 2020.
Scott said she and her team spent the first quarter of 2021 identifying “equity-oriented non-profit teams working in areas that have been neglected.” She ended up donating $2.739 billion to 286 organizations.

The organizations ranged from the arts to racial equity funds to journalism. Several organizations in Washington also made the list: Craft3, The Pride Foundation, Easterseals Washington, Walla Walla Communtiy College and the YMCA of Greater Seattle.
“We are governed by a humbling belief that it would be better if disproportionate wealth were not concentrated in a small number of hands, and that the solutions are best designed and implemented by others,” Scott wrote.
