PORT ANGELES, Wash. — A 30-year-old man was rescued Friday evening near the Olympic National Park Sol Duc Hot Springs.
The man had walked out on rocks above Sol Duc Falls; he slipped and was swept down the waterfall.
Officials say he went under a log and down another waterfall, eventually pulling himself out of the river. He was found around 70 feet down a steep embankment.
First responders arrived with medical gear, kept him warm with a sleeping bag, blankets and a camp-stove and then assisted him out.
Rescuers said his initial vitals were good. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
