MLK Day Celebration and March

Events start at 8:30 a.m., March at 12:30 p.m., Rally at Westlake Park at 1:30 p.m.

International League of Peoples' Struggle MLK March Anti Imperialism Contingents
Meet at Red Apple Parking Lot @ 23rd and Jackson
Walk to Garfield High School at 11:45 a.m. to join MLK march.

MLK Jr. Day Celebration  
Northwest African American Museum, 300 S Massachusetts Street 
11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Films about the Civil Rights Movement, speeches by Dr. King, art activities and learning about other activists who carry on the task of advocating for social Justice.

Metro bus service to be briefly halted

King County Metro will briefly pause all bus service Monday to honor the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at 4:04 p.m.  Metro and Metro-operated Sound Transit buses in King County will pull over and stop when it is safe to do so.

Bellevue

11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Talks by guest speakers and community leaders, live entertainment and performances which honor Dr. King's work. Visitors will also have the opportunity to donate blood, receive free health screenings and explore a variety of health-related community resources at the concurrent MLK Health Fair.

Tacoma

Be the Change
Greater Tacoma Convention Center, 1500 Broadway
11 a.m.

The featured keynote speaker will be Nate Bowling, 2014 recipient of the Milken Family Foundation's National Educator Award, the 2016 Washington State Teacher of the Year, and currently teaches advanced placement courses at Lincoln High School in Tacoma.

Annual Community March for MLK  
Bates Technical College, Downtown Campus cafeteria on 11th Street and Yakima Avenue
9 a.m.

Marchers meet at 9 a.m. for refreshments at the college’s Downtown Campus cafeteria on 11th Street and Yakima Avenue. At 10 a.m., the group begins marching to the city’s Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration at the Convention Center.

11 Days in the Life of Dr. King
Washington State History Museum, 1911 Pacific Avenue,
2 p.m.

The show 11 Days in the Life of Dr. King is educational, family-friendly, and full of song and dance.
