Missing Snohomish County swimmer found dead, officials say

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE, Wash. — A missing 33-year-old Mountlake Terrace man was found Monday in Lake Ballinger after he was reported missing Sunday night.

Officials said the man appeared to have died from drowning.

Officers with the Mountlake Terrace Police Department responded to reports of a missing swimmer around 7:50 p.m.

Officials said the man told his family he was going to swim from the beach to the island in the middle of the lake. After being gone for about an hour, officials said his family become concerned.

Officials with Mountlake Terrace Police, South County Fire and the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Dive team were unable to find the man Sunday night.

Around 9 a.m. Monday, the dive team resumed searching and found the man’s body about 30 yards from shore.
