Pedestrian hit, killed by truck in Lake Forest Park

LAKE FOREST PARK, Wash. — A pedestrian has died from injuries received when he was struck by a truck on SR 522/Bothell Way Northeast early Thursday.

Police said the pedestrian was apparently crossing the highway near Northeast 153rd when he was hit at about 3 a.m.

The victim, an Asian man about 30 years old, was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

Police said the eastbound lanes will remain closed for the investigation until at least 8 a.m.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said alcohol was not a factor in the crash, but speed may have been.

"It is higher speeds. Speed limit is 40. People often drive a little faster than that, especially in the dark. There's a lot of pedestrians crossing and it's reasonably common (that) people are not using crosswalks in this area," said Officer Paul Armbrust with Lake Forest Park police.
