CHEHALIS, Wash. — A man is recovering after reportedly picking up a hitchhiker who stabbed him Friday night, Chehalis police said.
Police and Washington State Patrol troopers were called about 7 p.m. to Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way near a northbound onramp for a single-car collision.
The driver told authorities he had picked up a hitchhiker near the local Walmart and the person stabbed him and ran off, officials said.
Law enforcement officials said the victim was taken by ambulance to the Chehalis Airport and was airlifted to the hospital. His condition is unknown.
Authorities could not find the suspect but are still searching.
