CHEHALIS, Wash. — The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after human remains were found Monday in the Chehalis River.
The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office dive rescue team found the remains around 11:30 a.m. near Highway 6 and Heden Road in Chehalis. The team was there assisting with the search for missing 18-year-old Zachary Lee Rager from Centralia.
Rager was reported missing in the river March 21 after diving from a trestle, a release from the sheriff’s office said.
The sheriff’s office and the Lewis County Coroner’s Office are working to ID the body and determine cause and manner of death. The coroner’s office will release more information when it is available.
