Surveillance video: Car crash into gas pump sparks ball of fire

UPDATE: The person in the second car that was hit by the Uber driver that crashed into the gas pump died Wednesday, March 15, a Harborview Medical Center spokeswoman said.

ORIGINAL TEXT: A crash sent two cars spinning across several blocks in Greenwood on Monday night – with one crashing into a gas station pump, sparking a fire.

KIRO 7 News obtained surveillance video on Tuesday of the fiery crash near 6th Avenue Northwest and Northwest Holman Road. Watch in player above.

The driver, who worked for a rideshare company, and the passenger survived.

The second car crashed into a side of the building, and it lost the engine block. A person in that vehicle was taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Crews shut down Holman Road to investigate around 8 p.m. on Monday, but it's since re-opened.
