TACOMA, Wash. — Tacoma police say a 63-year-old man who was found shot inside his home Wednesday was conscious long enough to tell officers who pulled the trigger, and got away.
The victim, who was critically injured, identified an 18- or 19-year-old man who is known to him. Tacoma police declined to release the suspect’s name Wednesday night, saying they hope to capture him quickly.
The shooting was reported to police in the 1700 block of S south 35th Street at 5:15 p.m. Neighbors told KIRO 7 they called 911 minutes before the shooting, to report three suspicious-looking, young men lurking around their properties with hoodies covering their heads and faces.
One neighbor told KIRO 7 she saw the three walk into the victim’s home. Another neighbor heard three loud gunshots, and saw three men in hoodies running from the home.
Detectives spent several hours removing evidence from the home. A Tacoma police spokesperson told KIRO 7 they are still trying to piece together a motive for the shooting.
