Police say she was driving under the influence when she hit a pickup and ripped it in half at the Burien-SeaTac line Monday.
She was driving a BMW heading north on Des Moines Memorial Drive South when she drove through a red light and T-boned the pickup at South 136th Street, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.
"She showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs," said Sgt. Jason Houck.
Houck said she was also speeding.
Friends and family have come together to raise money for the victims.
Angelo's Italian Restaurant in Burien, where the father works, has set up a GoFundMe page.
So far, they've raised more than $9,000. It's surpassed all of their expectations.
“I thought we'd maybe raise just a couple thousand dollars hopefully, but like I said the regulars here all love him and they've been so generous and we're so appreciative,” said Chelsea Ricci with Angelo’s.
The 16-year-old may be charged with vehicular assault.
