Off-duty Everett officer foils would-be bank robber

EVERETT, Wash. — An off-duty Everett police officer stopped a man who attempted to rob a bank inside a store Friday morning.

Everett police said Officer Yuliya Wold was working off-duty as security at the Fred Meyer at 8530 Evergreen Way when a man tried to rob the Chase Bank inside the store.

Wold, who was in full uniform and working with full police authority, stopped the suspect and arrested him. He was then turned over to on-duty officers.

The man had no weapon and no money was obtained.

He was booked for investigation of attempted robbery.
