CENTRALIA, Wash. — A man is dead and two women were taken to the hospital after a one-car crash in Centralia overnight.
At 2:15 a.m. Monday, a Centralia officer tried to pull over a vehicle in the intersection of Oxford and Marion.
The driver refused to stop and sped away from the officer over the Sixth Street viaduct, according to officers.
The officer followed, but wasn't able to keep up with the vehicle due to the high rate of speed.
As the Centralia officer reached the top of the Sixth Street viaduct, he saw the car run two stop signs at intersections on Sixth Street.
Just west of Sixth and North Pearl, the driver lost control, went off the road and hit a home in the 300 block of Sixth Street, coming to rest in the home’s front yard.
The driver and one of the passengers were ejected.
The Centralia officer and fire personnel attempted CPR on the driver, but he died at the scene. Both passengers were flown to area trauma centers.
The driver is a 19-year-old man from Centralia. The identities of the two female passengers are not yet known.
The Washington State Patrol is investigating.
