3 drunk drivers crash into each other in Wisconsin

MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. — Three Wisconsin motorists are facing drunk driving charges after an early-morning crash Sunday left one vehicle engulfed in flames and its driver injured.

According to the Mount Pleasant Police Department, the driver of a 2011 Ford F-25O who had been traveling southbound on Highway 32 drifted into the northbound lane and struck a 2000 GMC Yukon head-on just before 3 a.m. Moments later, a northbound 2013 Chevrolet Equinox struck the stalled vehicles, causing the Yukon to burst into flames, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

Meanwhile, the Yukon was fully engulfed by the time first responders arrived to find its driver had fled the scene, the police department stated.

The Yukon’s driver was eventually located at an area hospital and charged with suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Responding officers also determined the drivers of the F-250 and Equinox both “showed signs of impairment” and were arrested on suspicion of OWI, the Racine Journal Times reported.

Kraig Herbrechtsmeir, 56, of Racine was identified as the driver of the F-250 and is expected to be charged with his first drunk driving offense but may also face additional charges for driving the wrong way on a highway, the Journal Times reported.

The other two drivers were identified as Christopher Sanchez, 33 of Racine and Herbert Aguirre-Lopez, 45 of Kenosha. Aguirre-Lopez is expected to be charged with his third drunk driving offense, while Sanchez is facing his first, the newspaper reported.

Mount Pleasant Police Officers responded to a 3 vehicle accident which resulted in 3 being arrested for OWI charges.
