At least six people died Thursday after severe weather ripped through the Deep South, authorities said.
In Alabama, Calhoun County Sheriff Matthew Wade confirmed that there were five deaths in the area, CNN reported. He confirmed that there were multiple structures down in the area and that local agencies were assisting with a search and rescue operation to locate people who are trapped underneath the debris.
At least one person died during an overnight tornado reported in Coweta County, Georgia, according to WSB-TV.
