7 things to do this weekend: Sept. 21-23

1) Last weekend: Washington State Fair, Puyallup – Running until Sept. 23. It's that time of year to plan a day for fun at one of the biggest parties in Western Washington when you "Do The Puyallup!" Attendees will find attractions like the Cirque Ma'Ceo Equestrian Stunt Show, fireworks and even an 1880s variety show. Also, get your thrill on with a ride on a classic coaster or try the Extreme Scream that pushes nearly 3 Gs in the air and plummets back down. Follow this link for details.

2) Fall into fall: Kirkland Oktoberfest – Friday to Sunday, Sept. 21-23. This festival will feature live entertainment performed by S-Bahn. Want to catch some serious racing? The dachshunds will compete for first place in the Weiner Dog Races. Follow this link for details.

3) Autumn entrance: Luminata, Seattle – Saturday, Sept. 22, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The autumnal equinox will be welcomed with a parade over at Green Lake Park. There will be lanterns, glowing umbrellas, luminous costumes and many other arts that will be paraded around the lake. 4) Museum mania: Museum Day – Saturday, Sept. 22. This one-day event allows for free general admission for two people to participating Puget Sound area museums. Take time to check out the Seattle Art Museum, aka SAM. Explore and see global art collections and exhibits from around the world. 5) Compounded challenge: Warrior Dash, Carnation – Saturday, Sept. 22. Take heart and enjoy mud obstacles that are designed to test your strength. Besides the mud, expect some uneven terrain that will push you in your quest to finish a daunting 3.2-mile run. Follow this link for information on registration.

6) Park palooza: Free national and state parks day- Saturday, Sept. 22. This is the day that summer officially ends, but don't let it end without enjoying free entrance to a national or state park in Washington. No Discover Pass will be required to visit one of the 140 state parks and no entrance fee will be required for the national parks in the state. 7) Pedal: Snohomish Tweed Ride – Saturday, Sept. 22. It is your chance to stroll through downtown Snohomish and ride the historic Centennial Trail. You can have fun gazing at the scenes and socializing with other riders. Along the way, there will be a stop to enjoy a picnic, tea and some amusement. Follow this link for details.
