Julie Francavilla knighted by Seafair royalty

SEATTLE — Hey Morning News fans, did you know the lady who brings you the news in the morning on KIRO 7 TV has a new name?

KIRO 7 Morning News Anchor Julie Francavilla is now: “Lady of Marathons and Media” and has been knighted as Seattle Seafair Royalty!

Seattle’s Seafair officials gave Francavilla the special honor at Century Link Field, at the kick off press conference for the Seattle Rock n Roll Marathon.

Miss Seafair, Veronica Quintero “knighted” Francavilla in front of Century Link Field, with Western Washington’s Mt. Si High School Cheerleaders, looking on and cheering her on.  As part of Seafair, Quintero and Francavilla have both been training to run the Seattle Rock n Roll Half Marathon as part of the American Cancer Society’s training program, as the philanthropy for the Seattle Rock n Roll Marathon.   Quintero, a cancer survivor herself, has a number of things in common with Francavilla as they both volunteer to help eradicate cancer and Quintero is studying Francavilla’s chosen field of Communications at the University of Washington.

Seafair officials say they chose Francavilla as a 2012 Seafair Royal because of her dedication to serving the community and non-profits that help children and families and the fight against cancer.

Francavilla is the KIRO 7 Ambassador for the Seattle Rock n Roll Marathon.

Along with her new title of “Lady of Marathons and Media”, she’s shooting the start gun to kick off Saturday’s Rock n Roll Marathon at the Seattle Center.
