SEATTLE — Hundreds of pets were airlifted across the Pacific to find new forever homes in the Northwest.
Greater Good Charities and Wings of Rescue flew 578 cats and dogs from Hawaii to Boeing field on Thursday.
The dogs and cats are from overcrowded shelters from five of the Hawaiian islands and will be available for adoption at shelters in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana.
KIRO-7 was there as the pets were unloaded after the 7 hour flight. KIRO-7′s Alison Grande is working on the story for KIRO-7 News at 5 p.m.
The Paws Across the Pacific airlift was done with the help of the Hawaii Veterinary Medical Association to ensure the safety and health of pets on the flight.
