VASHON ISLAND, Wash. — One person was seriously injured and 18 children were transported to the hospital when a car collided with a bus on Vashon Island late Wednesday morning.
The crash occurred in the 24700 block of Vashon Highway Southwest. Police said the road will be closed for an extended time while officers investigate.
Police said the bus was carrying students headed to a field trip. The 18 children were taken to the hospital only as a precaution, police said.
Video from Chopper 7 showed that it appeared the car hit the bus, and then the bus went through a hedge and down a hill.
The King County Sheriff's Office said the driver of the car was seriously injured but no one on the bus was seriously hurt.
The bus belongs to charter company Horizon Coach Lines.
