6-month anniversary for deadly Oso landslide

Workers clear debris and search at the scene of a deadly mudslide from the now-barren hillside at upper right, nearly two weeks earlier, Thursday, April 3, 2014, in Oso, Wash. More than a dozen people are listed as missing and 30 bodies have been found in debris from the March 22 landslide that broke off a steep hill, roared across the North Fork of the Stillaguamish River and buried a community at Oso, about 55 miles north of Seattle. OSO, Wash. — Monday marks six months since a deadly landslide struck the community of Oso, killing 43 people.

Transportation officials hoped to have State Route 530, which was buried by the slide, reopen to two-way, full-speed traffic Monday, but rain over the weekend delayed paving and striping work.

The opening has been pushed back to Tuesday, weather permitting.

Monday also marks two months since the last victim was pulled from the rubble.

Kris Regelbrugge was found after neighbors continued to look for her body four months after the landslide hit.
