GRESHAM, Ore. — A 76-year-old man who was supposed to arrive in Seattle days ago has been found safe.
Gary Gochnour, 76, was scheduled to arrive in Seattle on Feb. 21 from Gresham, Ore., but never made it to his destination. He may suffer from dementia.
On Feb.19, Gochnour rented a U-Haul truck. He was coming to Seattle to live with his sister, who he called on that day.
He was scheduled to arrive in Seattle on Feb. 21 and return the truck. No one had heard from Gochnour and the truck was never returned to U-Haul.
His roommate, the last person to see him, said he left for Seattle on Feb. 27.
Police said thanks to media coverage, they received several valuable tips from people who had recent contact with Gochnour. He contacted his family in Seattle at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
It is not known exactly where he was for the past two weeks, but his family is relieved to hear from him. According to a witness, Gochnour appears to have been in Seattle, with the U-Haul truck, for several days and was looking for a home to rent.
