SEATTLE — UPDATE: Charges against Srivastava were dropped on July 3, 2014.
ORIGINAL STORY: A fired Microsoft manager faced a judge on charges he lured a female custodian into his Redmond office and raped her.
Prosecutors were concerned that at $75,000, bail for 36-year-old Vineet Srivastava was too low and they told the judge he was a flight risk.
Though Srivastava posted bail, he did appear at his arraigment at the King County courthouse Wednesday morning, where he pleaded not guilty to second-degree rape.
There was an official restriction made at the hearing that disallowed him from having a passport, but he had already forfeited his passport to get out of jail.
According to charging papers, on July 26, Srivastava motioned the victim to his office, and once inside, he groped and sexually assaulted her, eventually closing and locking his office door so she couldn't get out.
Documents said he forced her to the ground and raped her for several minutes.
After the assault, the victim reportedly told her supervisor, but that manager didn't call police.
It was a few days later when another supervisor for the custodial contractor, ABM, reported the rape to Redmond police.
The victim had bruises on her legs and shoulders and picked Srivastava out of a lineup.
According to reports, the 36-year-old senior programming manager was fired by Microsoft after his arrest.
Court documents said Srivastava told detectives that the victim was the attacker and she raped him.
His case setting hearing is set for Sept. 10. He remains free on bail.
