A behind the scenes look at FedEx's Seattle delivery center

SEATTLE — About 121 million shoppers plan to shop for bargains online Monday.

This year marks ten years since the first official "Cyber Monday.”

Reporter Jeff Dubois went behind the scenes to show how your packages get to your doorstep.

He got a look inside one of FedEx’s biggest facilities in Seattle.

Hundreds of thousands of packages will make their way down conveyor belts at the delivery center near Boeing Field before the end of the year.

Kevin Caswell is in charge of the facility. It’s the biggest of six FedEx sorting locations in the Puget Sound area.

"For the corporation, we're looking at around 317 million pieces between Cyber Monday and December 24,” said Caswell.

Caswell says the number of packages they'll process in the next month is at least 40 to 50 percent more than any month during the rest of the year.

"It's getting scanned every step of the way, so we know exactly where it is in the process,” said Caswell.

The number of packages has increased year over year, especially with retail sales and Cyber Monday.

FedEx expects a 12 and a half percent increase in deliveries over last December.

Conveyor belts take packages directly to the delivery trucks.

About 240 drivers load the boxes in the morning and don't come back until they're all delivered to doorsteps.

No vacation time is allowed during this time of year.

"Some very long days between now and December 24,” said Caswell.
