Comcast customers report outage in Puget Sound

Several Comcast customers reported a service outage Monday night in the Puget Sound area. The problem extended to several West Coast cities because of a hardware problem, company officials said in a statement.

Several Comcast customers have reported a service outage in the Puget Sound area Monday night.

Customers reported that their Internet service was affected by the outage.

Officials with Comcast said the outage was DNS-related and is affecting people in Western areas.

Comcast tweeted that their engineers were investigating the issue at about 8 p.m.

One Facebook user told KIRO 7 that they were without Internet for about an hour.

At about 9 p.m. customers reported their Internet was restored.

In April, thousands of customers were without Internet, phone and TV after an outage in Seattle. It was believed that a fiber optic line was damaged  in the Madison Park area. Their service was later restored.
