Comcast said customers affected by Monday night’s outage can get a credit for lost service, and that they’re reaching out to those who reported problems with Internet service.
Internet service for several Comcast customers in the Western United States was degraded or unavailable for several hours. Comcast said in statement they had a team on the problem immediately and restored full service to most customers by 9 p.m. Pacific time.
If you want to contact Comcast about a potential refund, the company number is 1 (800) 934-6489 (The last seven numbers spell XFINITY). The company also allows people to talk with an agent online through the Comcast website.
"A piece of hardware in our backbone network failed yesterday morning," the statement read. "Hardware issues of this sort are fairly commonplace and redundancy in our network addressed any immediate concern."
Comcast said they're building a website that impacted customers can visit to receive their credit, but it was not available early Tuesday evening. A link was expected to be tweeted at twitter.com/comcastcares.
