Construction worker shocked in Bellevue accident

BELLEVUE, Wash. — A construction worker in Bellevue suffered critical injuries after he was shocked while working next to a boom truck on Thursday.

A construction crew was working along Southeast 20th Street near 106th when the worker was shocked while holding a chain and standing next to a boom truck.

Firefighters at the scene are not sure if the boom truck came into contact with overhead wires.

The man, in his 30s, was rushed to Harborview Medical Center.

"We arrived to find a critical patient in his 30s. We did transport him to Harborview Medical Center," said Troy Donlan of the Bellevue Fire Department. "In route, his condition did deteriorate, so that's why we called him critical."

No one else was hurt.

The Department of Labor and Industries is now looking into what went wrong.
