SEATTLE — Nike shoes worn by a May Day protester seen on camera smashing out windows at Niketown linked the man to his role in the vandalism, court documents said.
New details are coming from court documents about the investigation and several search warrants police have served.
A KIRO 7 photographer took dramatic video of people smashing the windows of Niketown and American Apparel, including one segment in which a protester wearing Nike shoes was seen shattering windows at Niketown.
According to the Seattlepi.com, the man in the video was found after two people called a May Day tip line set up by investigators.
In a search of the 27-year-old's home in Ballard, police seized two purple scarves, a backpack and Nike shoes with red spray paint on them.
Another part of the report centers around two protestors, a woman recorded on video hitting two police officers with some kind of projectile and her boyfriend.
According to the P-I, officers recognized that woman as the girlfriend of a recently convicted sex offender. Police said the woman’s boyfriend admitted to his corrections officer they took part in the demonstration.
At their home, police found bandannas, a backpack, black pants with red paint on them and goggles, all of which were items seen in the video.
The report also details how much property damage was done on May 1.
More than $50,000 in repairs were needed at Niketown, and a Wells Fargo Bank branch had nearly $26,000 in damage.
There was also tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of damage to government property and other businesses.
