SEATTLE — Terminal 18 at the Port of Seattle reopened Wednesday morning after a dispute between local ports and the longshore union caused its closure Tuesday at noon.
During the shutdown, ships could not be unloaded.
The terminal operator said longshoremen walked off the job after demanding more people be hired at Terminal 5.
The container facility is the largest in the Northwest.
KIRO 7 has been tracking the dispute for months and the slowdowns in shipping that have occurred as a result.
A lot of businesses feel they are caught in the crossfire.
"We're not able to do our job. Second of all, people now don't have work, drivers and warehousemen will be going home," said John Bray on Tuesday, who works for trucking company Seattle Transload.
