The Bellevue Police Department is warning people about a phone scam that's taking thousands of dollars from people.
Police said scammers are pretending to be the Chinese Consulate, and claiming the person who answers the call needs to pay money to clear their name from a money laundering incident.
One Bellevue resident paid $219,000.
Bellevue police said they've received reports of nine victims receiving the calls.
