Issaquah latest school district to install cameras on school bus stop paddles

The Issaquah School District is adding cameras to its school bus stop sign paddles.

Issaquah is the latest in a growing list of school districts looking to crack down on drivers.

In just 2019 alone there have been more than 6,500 citations handed out in King County's Seattle, Bellevue and Highline school districts.

The cameras in the Issaquah district have been installed, but citations won’t be issued until Nov. 1.

The cameras on the front of the bus stop paddles face the back, and cameras on the back face forward.

Along with pictures, the cameras also take several seconds of video before and after someone drives by.

Every ticket issued will be reviewed by the King County Sheriff's Office.

A violation will cost $419.
