BELLEVUE, Wash. — Bellevue police and school officials decided to close Interlake High School for the rest of the day Friday and release students after rumors of a school shooting were posted on Facebook Friday.
Students are safe. The school was placed in lockdown and Bellevue police investigated as classes continued Friday morning, but officials later decided to close the school for the remainder of the day.
Police emphasized that there were no reports of shots fired called in to 911 and no danger was found at the school.
The school district said students would be released as follows:
- Students who drive a personal vehicle will be escorted to the parking lot and allowed to leave campus.
- Students who walk home will be escorted off campus and allowed to walk home.
- Students enrolled in the Transition or PACIFIC programs will be bused to Highland and parents will be contacted.
Parents and guardians at this time should NOT arrive to Interlake High School to pick up a student. Instead, if picking up a student, the parent should report to Highland Middle School, located at 15027 NE Bel-Red Road, Bellevue.
We anticipate that releasing students will be a slow process as classrooms will be released one at a time.
Bellevue police continue to investigate.
