EVERETT, Wash. — A Marysville family will gather to celebrate what would have been Gia Soriano's 15th birthday Tuesday.
Gia's father, Bryan Soriano, said she was so excited to learn how to drive.
Instead, they're using a peaceful place to keep the memory of the teen shot and killed at Marysville-Pilchuck High School alive.
“’I wish you were here. We miss you.’ That’s what I would say to Gia right now. Miss her every day, every second of the day,” said Bryan Soriano.
Brian Soriano drives by Everett's Legion Memorial Park every day on his way to work, where a bench was recently installed there in Gia's honor.
It's decorated with flowers and pictures and inscribed with the words "God's Incredible Angel."
“At her grave, that's where her spirit is. And here, this is where her memories are,” said Gia’s brother, Anthony Soriano.
An intimate gathering is planned Tuesday at the bench to celebrate those memories and Gia's birthday.
