CLE ELUM, Wash. — On Saturday morning, a semi collided with a smaller truck and then flipped onto its side, bursting into flames.
Firefighters from multiple Kittitas County fire districts responded to the fire, where a plume of smoke could be seen for miles.
The tanker was carrying gasoline, according to officials, which fueled the fire, spreading through nearby vegetation.
A shelter in place order was issued for Twin Pines RV Park, and was later lifted.
The driver of the semi-truck suffered burns to his hands, head, and back, and was airlifted to Harborview for treatment of his injuries.
The driver of the smaller truck suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital in Ellensburg.
