RENTON, Wash. — Six condo units are a “total loss” after a 3-alarm fire tore through River Valley Condominiums, according to Renton Fire officials.

The fire, which started around 2:15 p.m., took hours to put out -- and started in a second-story unit, moving to the attic.

It spread to the roof, and burned along the length of the building.

12 people are displaced, but nobody is hurt.

The owner of the unit where the fire started told KIRO 7 he was sleeping on Sunday afternoon when he awoke to yelling and the fire alarm.

People told him there was a fire on his deck, but he told KIRO 7 he doesn’t know what would have started the fire.

The official cause of the fire is under investigation.
