KENT, Wash. — Firefighters say someone broke into a Kent elementary school and set a fire in a classroom Monday morning.
Firefighters were called to Horizon Elementary School on 144th Avenue Southeast after fire and burglar alarms sounded at 2:45 a.m.
Firefighters say someone broke in through a window shortly before the fire started.

Police say the fire was confined to a bookcase full of student art in a classroom. Although the fire was quickly put out, smoke damage extended throughout the classroom and into the common area of the school, according to firefighters.
Police and school security searched the building for suspects, vandalism, or other fires, but found nothing.
