BREMERTON, Wash. — Police said a young man is in the Kitsap County Jail after he called 911 to report he had been drinking and killed his grandfather.
Will Jackson, the son of the victim and the father of the suspect, identified the accused as 21-year-old William "Willy" Jackson III and the victim as 91-year-old Hurene "Hap" Jackson.
"We're all Jacksons and that's why it's disgusting," Will Jackson said.
Kitsap County deputies said the victim was stabbed to death in a bedroom in a home on Shamrock Drive outside Bremerton.
Will Jackson said his son had been living with his father for four years and had threatened him before.
"Why did it happen? Because my son, he wanted what he wanted when he wanted," Jackson said.
Jackson described his son as "very selfish, very ignorant, and very disrespectful."
By contrast, Jackson said this about his father: "He was a war vet, he helped out war vets. He was a man of God, he did the right thing."
Jackson said his father served in Vietnam, and volunteered with the VFW.
William Bradley Jackson III will appear in court Wednesday in Port Orchard.
He is being held on $2 million bond for investigation of first-degree murder.
