Ferndale police officers were called to a Haggen grocery store for a report of what appeared to be a hand grenade in the parking lot.
The Bellingham Police Department bomb squad responded and determined that the device was indeed a grenade, but it’s “core” had been removed, rendering it harmless.
The grenade has since been removed for disposal.
