OLYMPIA, Wash. — The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office said the driver of a pickup pointed a gun out the window and fired shots at another driver who fired back during a road rage incident in Olympia Thursday.

The victim, a 32-year-old man, called 911 shortly before 2 p.m. to report he had been involved in a road rage incident near 113th Avenue Southeast and Tilley Road Southeast in which gunshots were exchanged.
The victim told police that he was traveling on McCorkle Road Southeast when a 1970s Ford pickup came up from behind and he heard what sounded like two gunshots. The pickup then rear-ended his vehicle.
Vicitm's car damaged
The rear window of the victim’s vehicle shattered on impact. The victim said he sped up to get away, but the truck also sped up, got next to him and tried to run him off the road.
The victim said he saw the passenger in the pickup holding what appeared to be a pistol out the window.
Gunshots returned
The victim was able to get ahead of the pickup, and as both vehicles neared Tilley Road Southeast on 113th Avenue, the victim slowed down and pointed his pistol out the driver’s side window and fired several rounds at the pickup, possibly hitting it in the grill or engine area.
The victim sped away and drove home, where he called 911.
Woman reports seeing speeding vehicles
The suspect’s vehicle was described as a yellow, mid to late 1970s Ford pickup with primer on the hood. The truck sat high and may have had a hitch on the front bumper.
During the incident, a Thurston County flagger reported that she was driving to work on 113th Avenue when a small red car was coming at her in her lane at a high rate of speed. She pulled over.
As she continued on, a partially yellow 4x4 truck also came at her at a high rate of speed and she had to pull over again.
She said she saw a white man, about 30 years old the truck. She did not hear any gunfire.
