Escaped inmate returned to Clallam Co. Jail

CLALLAM CO., Wash. — An escaped inmate was returned to the Clallam County Jail on Sunday, after escaping on Saturday.

Port Angeles Police found the inmate after following up on an anonymous tip they received.

They arrested the inmate on Caroline Street and booked him on an additional charge of Escape in the second Degree -- a class C felony.

Inmate Anthony Freitas will be arraigned in Superior Court Monday.

Officials say deputies were notified by kitchen staff at the jail on Saturday that Freitas was missing from his work assignment.

The jail was immediately placed on lockdown and searched.

Anthony is not considered a dangerous person. Officials say he was being held at the jail for taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s permission.

Police advised members of the public not approach Freitas if seen.

Officials say before he first escaped,  he was "last seen wearing black leather-type work boots, dark blue two-piece coverall bottoms, an orange colored tee-shirt and a medium brown two piece coverall top. All clothing consisted of lightweight fabric and is not suitable for inclement weather."
