The U.S. Forest Service has created a narrative timeline and interactive map depicting 2015’s Pacific Northwest fire season.
This fire season was the most severe in the modern history of the Pacific Northwest
From the Forest Service release:

During this time period, Oregon and Washington experienced over 3,800 wildfires.

Collectively, the fires burned over 1,600,000 acres of land.
Three firefighters were killed battling flames in the summer of 2015: Richard Wheeler, Andrew Zajac & Tom Zbyszewski.
