JBLM soldier killed in combat

JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. — A Joint Base Lewis-McChord soldier died in Afghanistan, according to KIRO 7 Eyewitness News partner The News Tribune.

The father of 20-year-old Specialist Trevor Pinnick told The Telegraph newspaper that his son died in a mine explosion on Monday.

Pinnick was assigned to the engineer company under the 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry division.

His job involved searching for and defusing improvised explosive devices.
