SEATTLE — A convicted felon was arrested and a handgun was seized following an earlier Wednesday traffic stop in Seattle’s Beacon Hill area, police said.
At about 1 a.m., a man, 49, was spotted driving an SUV without a front license plate in the 900 block of Sturgus Avenue South. Officers attempted to pull over the driver, but police said the man backed into an empty vehicle and then hit an officer’s patrol car instead of stopping.
Authorities said the man fled on foot but was later taken into custody just a short distance away.
A loaded handgun was found on the man, as well as a small amount of drugs believed to be heroin, officials said.
The man was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of assault, unlawful possession of a firearm and narcotics possession.
